Birthday Surprise!

Ladies and gents, it's time to introduce the newest member of our family! So a little back story first. Scott and I are remodeling our house. We still have quite some time before it's finished. I've been bringing up the puppy idea to Scott off and on for quite a few months. Also, every so often we would go to the pet store to get our puppy fix! It was great. We also decided that once we finish the house, we would get a puppy. Like a little reward!

So my birthday was earlier this month. On one of our weekend excursions to HomeDepot or Lowe's, Scott tells me that... my birthday is coming up and he wanted it to be a surprise....but I should be the one to pick it out. Honestly, I had no idea what he was talking about! I mean, he totally could have been talking about fabric! (Since we all know that I need more!) And then he said I could get a little puppy! So with that, the search began!

It didn't take all too long since I found one that same day. Ha! She's perfect! Her name is Bella. A cute little ball of fluff. She was also meant to be since her birthday happens to fall on our wedding anniversary! (Fate!) She's a cute little Cockapoo (cocker spaniel/ poodle mix). It's said that she will grow up to be between 15-20 lbs, which is perfect for me! Not to tiny, but not huge either. And her coat is apricot, which is just the color I wanted in a pup! <3

House training is super fun though...Bleh! If she leaves the room you are in, she's probably looking for a place to pee. She's 12 weeks old right now though and approximately 5 lbs. Good news is, she is sleeping through the night! Cries all the time when I put her down in her kennel when I have to leave but good news! She hasn't had any accidents! (Knock on wood!!) For being so tiny, she's great at holding her little bladder. Just not so much when she can roam around the house. We make sure all the doors to carpet stay closed!

It's a fun little adventure and she should be with us for quite some time! Enjoy a few pictures of our little furbaby. This also means that it's already time to update our family photos!! Though I'm not so sure how well that would be with a kitty and a pup... <3

Family Photos 2016 plus Updates!

I really love pictures but I am really bad at taking them with my hubby and me. Mainly, selfies get really old (and pretty awkward!) and I don't always care to ask a stranger to take our picture... (When I strike it rich, I'll just hire a forever photographer!)

So with that, I plan on getting family photos done once a year, around our anniversary. It works out pretty perfect since it's right around the start of the new year! We just had our 2 year the end of December, which means picture time! This year we decided to include the entire family! ;)

My beautiful friend Annie did our pictures. She is fabulous! Check out her FB page here!

Since this is sort of the start of the new year, I might as well give an update on what has been going on in our lives!

In August of 2015, Scott and I bought a house! We have been hard at work remodeling and renovating. We finally are to the point where we have an almost kitchen! It's really fun to watch it transform, it just takes so darn long. So far we have done all the work ourselves with the help of my dad. So grateful for all his help! I'll be sure to expound more on this in another post with our progress photos!

One of the best things about our house (in my opinion) is the garden! It came with  a really nice sized garden with irrigation already installed. Last year was my first time gardening for real and I had great success! I was a little late in the planting season but this year we will be ready! I'll be sure to update on this years awesome gardening adventure!

We've also been on a few trips recently, Utah over Christmas and we just recently went to California to spend some time at the happiest place on earth! (Disneyland) Hopefully we will start doing a little more traveling together! <3

Work is going well for the both of us, which is always a plus!

I've also been sewing quite a bit and Scott got me a coverstitch machine for Christmas! (Yay!) Soon I will show you all the things I've been making! I'm also debating if I want to start selling some handmade clothing...

That's basically the jist for now. :)

Anyway, please enjoy some family photos!

Family photos with miss Peanut! <3 Love her to pieces! She was a little but of a turd though...she just wanted to run around and explore, which doesn't work too well when trying to take pictures! Maybe she will be better at taking pictures when she's a little older...

Cheers!

Favorite Sewing Patterns

Hey guys! The last little while that I've been MIA, I've basically been a busy bee sewing and just having way too much fun! (Okay, let's be real...I haven't been sewing all the time. Maybe in my dreams! <3) My hubby and I also recently bought a house (hooray!) and we have been doing all sorts of remodeling and renovating. (A little intense for house number one...) That basically has been taking up all of our Saturday's. Bless my father's heart for coming up and helping us almost every Saturday for the last few months! Scott and I are really looking forward to it being done though...and having a kitchen again. But more on that later...I'll have tons of pictures to share! I've also been working full time and taking some online classes, so it's been a bit busy over here.

think it's about time that I share some of my favorite sewing patterns. :) These are definitely my go to's. Also, stay tuned because I'll be going a little in depth for each of my favorites!

1. Layer Me Up - by Patterns for Pirates
2. Peglegs - by Patterns for Pirates
3. Women's Henley - by Patterns for Pirates
4. Bonny Leggings - by Made for Mermaids
5. Raglan - by Patterns for Pirates
6. Raglan add on pack! (The hood seems a little too small for my preference though. I'm going to mash it with the Halifax Hood since it has a great hood size!)
7. Halifax - by Hey June
8. Ginger Jeans - by Closet Case Files
9. Boundless Dress - by Patterns for Pirates
10. Day Tripper Top - by Shwin Designs

I have a huge handful of other patterns that I have...I just haven't tried them yet. PDF patterns take a lot of time and effort before you can even start sewing! Print the pattern, tape or glue the pattern together, cut out your size, cut out fabric and then we get to sew it all together! Once our house is a little more put together and the dining room table is accessible, I can use that to take some of these patterns together...once I print them...

Also, Made for Mermaids has a bunch of free patterns that were released during 12 Days of Christmas, so head over to their shop and check them out!
